NE Commemorations
Racial Harmony Day
We commemorated Racial Harmony Day (RHD) on 17th July to mark the anniversary of the 1964 racial riots. On this day, Regenites reflected on and celebrated Singapore as a harmonious society built on a rich diversity of cultures. The students had an enriching experience learning about one another’s culture and the importance of strengthening relations with the different races in Singapore. They also pledged to do their part in preserving racial harmony by creating the orange ribbon awareness pledge. The celebrations ended with a skit which made the students understand and appreciate unity in diversity.
Total Defence Day
Total Defence Day is when every sector of society is mobilised to remind us that each of us has a part to play to ensure Singapore’s security. This year, the theme was ‘Together We Keep Singapore Strong’. Our Secondary Two NPCC cadets led the way brilliantly by giving informative talks on Total Defence Day class by class. They shared insightful details on SGSecure. The SGSecure movement is Singapore’s community response to the threat of terror. Through this, the students became aware of how to prevent, protect & respond to terrorist attacks. Another interesting class activity was playing the card game – Guardians of the City II. The main objective of the game is to help students develop a deeper understanding of Singapore’s security threats and the part that they play in keeping Singapore safe and secure. At the end of the day, students learnt the importance of working together to keep Singapore Strong.
