Sec 4&5 Aspirations Camp
Our school believes that every student, as a learner and a leader, should take the initiative and have an early headstart in planning for their future. Hence, we partnered with our successful Alumni and Nanyang Polytechnic to help our students decide on their career pathways through this annual Secondary 4 Aspiration Camp. This programme introduced several tips and dispensed valuable information about the various pathways that are available after graduating from secondary school. Some of them include the Early Admission Exercise (EAE) for ITE colleges and polytechnics, Polytechnic Foundation Programme (PFP) aswell as other courses that will lead to the students’ dream careers.
The career talks given by our successful Alumni and Nanyang Polytechnic ambassadors were truly enlightening. They were more than determined to work harder towards their dreams since now they are better able to make informed decisions. During the 3-day Aspiration Camp, students were divided into groups based on their desired courses. They were given the most up-to-date information about the polytechnic courses. Course synopsis of certain popular courses were also shared with the students to ensure that students eventually develop the relevant skills for an evolving workforce.
There was also a short and useful segment on how to prepare effective EAE portfolios that will stand students in good stead when they apply for their desired courses and polytechnics.
The Aspiration Camp has certainly helped students to fully engage in career planning. They picked up practical knowledge that will benefit them as they prepare for their future.By Nikkisha Norhisham (Sec 4-8)
